I am a Micro-Entrepreneur. Why? Because I run a business, with only 1 employee – MYSELF.
From the day I published my first blog post until today, I’ve published more than 450 detailed articles and tutorials with an overall engagement of 1 million unique users and more than 2 million page views.
People think I am a successful man as I have a lot of stuff in possession. Expensive clothes, shoes, tech, and more. The fact is I am not. Although I’ve worked hard in life to buy all the stuff. Success can never be measured by money.
Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.
That expensive phone you bought today might give you happiness but the same phone becomes the reason for dissatisfaction as soon as the new version or model comes out.
So what am I doing about it? I am trying to minimalize. I am trying to get rid of (giving away, not selling) all the stuff that adds no value to my life. The old books, old video games, tech, clothes, unused laptop and even my old desktop computer.
You might say books provide more value than anything else. YOU ARE RIGHT! By giving away, I am passing on the value and knowledge to others. I find no sense in decorating a bookshelf with hundreds of books.
I am not on the path to become a minimalist but I am surely not going to buy stuff that gives temporary happiness. Something that can add value to my life is worth the money.
But before minimalizing the physical stuff, I cleaned my virtual space. I REMOVED MY SOCIAL MEDIA.
I deleted my WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat and other social media profiles in November 2017. I still use a Facebook profile solely for the purpose of running Editingcorp business page.
My ultimate goal is to live a life full of happiness, freedom and no regrets.
A life with no regrets is a myth. Because of regrets, we rebuild our life. Without regrets, we never learn what true happiness and freedom are.
